Jokes of the Day

Boy-laughingLost Bible
The devout cowboy lost his favorite Bible while he was mending fences out on the range.
Three weeks later a cow walked up carrying the Bible in it’s mouth. The cowboy couldn’t believe his eyes.
He took the book out of the cow’s mouth, raised his eyes heavenward and exclaimed, “It’s a miracle!”
“Not really,” said the cow.
“Your name was written inside the cover.”

Super Man
We took the kids to one of those restaurants where the walls are plastered with movie memorabilia. I went off to see the hostess about reserving a table. When I returned, I found my 10-year-old granddaughter Kaitlyn staring at a poster of Superman standing in a phone booth.
Kaitlyn looked puzzled. “She doesn’t know who Superman is?” I whispered to Jenny.
“Worse,” Jenny replied. “She doesn’t know what a phone booth is.”

Typewriter
They had been up in the attic together doing some cleaning. The kids uncovered an old manual typewriter and asked her, “Hey Mom…what’s this?”
“Oh…that’s an old typewriter,” she answered, thinking that would satisfy their curiosity.
“Well what does it do?” they asked.
“I’ll show you,” she said and returned with a blank piece of paper. She rolled the paper
into the typewriter and beganstriking the keys, leaving black letters of print on the page.
“WOW!” they exclaimed, “that’s really cool…but how does it work like that? Where do
you plug it in?”
“There is no plug,” she answered. “It doesn’t need a plug.”
“Then where do you put the batteries?” they persisted.
“It doesn’t need batteries either.” she continued.
“Wow! This is so cool!” they exclaimed. “Someone should have invented this a long time ago!”

We have lost some good ones

By Fred McGuire
InspirationA handful of insurance agents I knew, some friends and my only sister-in-law passed away this year. These were special people that left a legacy behind as they moved on to the next life.
As I sat in a church just last weekend for the latest funeral, I was reminded that attending that day was good for me. It caused me to reflect on what is really important in my life.
At times like these my thoughts go to things like:

  • Life is not:
    • About how much “fun” we can squeeze into our weekends.
    • About how much money, prestige and power we can accumulate in our lives.
    • About putting my hobbies/interests above the needs of others.
  • Life is:
    • About how have we helped others in their life’s journey.
    • About taking time to interact and listen to friends, neighbors and co-workers.
  • What do I want people to say about me at my funeral?
    • Does my daily activity reflect these desires? If not, what am I willing to change?

How might you answer some of these questions for yourself?
If you struggle in your head around these issues, go to a funeral, it will bring the perspective we all need.

Water Damage in Minneapolis, MN

A Wild Summer

This summer was fun for many but included some pretty significant rainfall amounts in several places. Mid-June through mid-July was “all hands on deck” with no days off till everyone was served.
Thanks to the crew for working very hard to help people in need. Your commitment has been noticed by many.
